Fairhaven students visit Otawa Reserve to do their stream study

We had a great session this week at Otawa reserve stream. The students are doing the clarity test above. They also tested the pH and temperature. All had very healthy results.
Sampling for invertebrates with the nets, these are then emptied into the white trays to search for the invertebrates.
Ngaire with an invertebrate she sucked up. The next thing she will do is put it into the sorting tray then identify it. The kids found 29 mayflies and 1 caddisfly. Invertebrates only found in a healthy stream system.
